If you have long tube headers, I want to know what kind they are, how long have you had them and what problems do you have or did you have if any at all. I installed shorties about six months ago and I hate them. Nothing but problems. Going to LTs now, but want to make good a choice on the purchase. Thanks.
I have Dynatech LT's. Great product! They are four years old ceramic coated and on there second supercharged F-150. I bought them used. They see exhuast temps of 1400f regularly and look brand new.
I looked into the Dynatech headers and though they are nice, just a little more than I wanted to spend on headers. So I ordered the OBX stainless long tubes with the high flow cats and a Banks dual exhaust. Should be here in less than two weeks.
What problems are you having with the shorty headers? I was planning to order JBA shorts today and would like to hear what your experience has been before I place the order. BTW, do you have yearly inspections where you live?
The shorties are worthless for a hp improvement. They barley flow any better then the stock ones. If you are looking to replace a cracked stock manifold then its a good choice. But if you want power LT's are the way to go.
JBA shorties are probably better than the ones I bought but like TwinSkrewd said, no power gain or better mpg. My shorties were a huge pain to install on the passenger side. Then the cheap *** gaskets that came with them leaked so I replaced them. Then the gasket on the passenger side still leaked. Took it to the shop and paid a mechanic to deal with that headache and I still got the leak. And now the driver side is starting to leak on start up. The time and money that I have put into these shorties of mine, I could have just bought LTs and have less problems and better power and mpg. Trust us when we say go with long tubes.
By the way, if the JBA shorty on the passenger side has that huge curved pipe off the 3 cylinder, run from that nightmare of an installation. The only way to get it in there is to lift the engine about three inches, which produces more problems, or beat the hell out of it. Took me all freakin day to get that thing in there.
