Kinda looks like aftermarket radio wiring.

Door buzzer

When I replaced my ignition key tumbler, I noticed it had a wire for the key in buzzer. Found one on eBay for $25. Plugged it into the harness behind the glove box and i now have headlight and key warning buzzer. Search E43B-10B924-AB on eBay. The guy still has 10 of them

Ctubutis,
You are probably right again. The original radio was replaced by the PO with a CD/radio player. Maybe he needed to cut those wires for some reason. I am not savvy enough to know why.

KH0432 - you are on to something. When I first got the Red Rider the ignition key tumbler was changed because my mechanic said that it was worn. I think that when this was done that the mechanic messed with that wire because the door chime and the headlight warning buzzer do not work. The other thing that happened is that I can have the radio on but when I pull the headlight **** to turn on the lights the radio loses all power and all the radio presets disappear.

You guys are definitely getting me on the right track. I will have to get the truck out and keep looking around.

Thanks for your responses and ideas/opinions. I appreciate it.

listening to that buzzer too long messes with your hearing..after a few min , everything i heard sounded slurred. i used to get the same effect from small model airplane engines.. it goes away after a few min tho.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread that's contributed useful information! I've had five Bullnose Fords total and for all these years (and several dead batteries) I just assumed that they just never came equipped with headlight warning buzzers. Until I stumbled upon this thread digging through the forum. Thanks to the info posted here I verified I had the wiring, disconnected the Key In Ignition and Seatbelt wires and procured the correct headlight warning buzzer off Ebay. No more dead batteries!

I just seen your post . I have to say that short bed are not that bad. the side step one is the worst because of small space inside. Even thou i have an 83 F100 with the step side box, I use it all the time as a truck and carry all kinds of stuff. Is in restoration mode right now so i don't use as much as i use to as i have a small car to drive as daily. But i'm still restoring it as as Truck. (Truck Gang).

On my 86 f250, would I be able to switch out the buzzer for a chime? What vehicle would I need to look for this?

That i do not know. i believe it depends on the wire connector size and type, and how are the buzzer and chimes wired inside the box. Does power go in in the same pin or different pin. My guess maybe a crown vic.
