Diesel oils should not foam, they put stuff in it not to foam, some companies better than others, so there's no air in the injector system, motorcycle oil's have high antifoam for other reason's also.
i have noticed more oil consumption lately....??? but i dont see evidence of where its going? the blackstone report did say that the fuel % was a little high....but that would indicate making oil not loosing it....????
Hey Brother! I run the same oil and haven't noticed any foam. i will say anytime I get over 5k on my oil, it starts to burn some. You might want to pop the valve covers and look at the silly little plugs in the HP oil galleys. I had 2 that were split and passing off pressure. Guzzle has the little buggers. the plugs are a pain, my 1/8 allen wrench rounded off on the 1st one. had to insert (read pound) a torx bit into the other 3!
the only other source I can think of would be the standpipe coming out of the pan then into the LPOP. we don't want to think about that. but if it starts ok after sitting for a couple days it should be ok

I guess I'll change the oil just to eliminate that as a possibility....Not sure what plugs you are talking about??? under the covers?? A picture would help.
I really hope its not the pick-up tube!!!! It starts up fine, idles fine (a little rpm fluctuation), no noticable lack of power or mpg's.

what could cause this and how common is it? are there any other symptoms this could cause?
symptoms of a cracked oil pickup tube typically hard or no start after a long(12-24 hr) shutdown. It lets the LPOP suck air instead of oil causing no oil feed to the HPOP. One way to test has always been to jack the rear end up 2-3 feet and add 2 extra quarts of oil to submerge the whole tube. if the truck starts, its more than likely a cracked tube. Its common enough that this is the OEM diagnostics test on no starts.
the oil plugs are the little 1/8 allen headed jobbies under the valve cover. I don't have any pics but I'll bet PaysonPSD does. He has an amaizing library of pics and remembers where they all are.
with no starting issues or rough idle/running then maybe im in the clear there....
Pason has pictures like CSIPSD has gauges...
only other symptom i have is a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak sometimes and like bad injectors at other times....noise goes away when i let off the throttle. cant really get the noise to pick up well on any videos as it only happens while driving. raising the rpm's while parked doesnt induce the noise....and im not sure the noise is related to the aeration?
