IDI vs powerstroke

The IDI has a glow plug "controller" not just a relay so it's more likely to be a Powerstroke.

The IDI still has a relay it's just controlled by a standalone controller instead of a pcm.

I'm pretty sure the '94 Power Stroke just had "Turbo Diesel" under the side badge, did not have Power Stroke.

Also the 94 powerstrokes only came with a manual transmission

In that case the PSD is great for me, but my wife would want me to have an IDI... she rules our savings account with an iron fist!

pop the hood. if it has a fuel filter above the passenger side valve cover it is an IDI
and if you see glow plugs and injectors it is an IDI

I just called the guy and he said it is a turbo IDI.... Next question.

I did that also, but I'd like to learn how to tell the differences and which is better for what reasons. But the pictures and everyone's responses helped out quite a bit.

My $.02 on the IDI is that it is a good, very forgiving, very durable engine, but does not have the power potential that the PSD does. They will run forever though!
