is it possible to get rid of the egr by blocking where it goes in the intake manifold with out problems. Also can I get rid of the rest of emissions. Motor is out right now and was wondering all I can get rid of.
you can remove the egr and plate it off make sure you block the vacum line. you will get a check engine light on and you can remove your smog pump. i am not sure if you will run into trouble with the egr i know the 302 is moody along the lines of cyl temps and the egr is supposed to help that. i personally would leave it on just remove the smog pump.
I have already removed the vac pump. But what about the lines next to the coil can I just block them off. From what I can tell the run into the pump or pull vacumn off of it.
the lines next to the coil have nothing to do with the fresh air pump on the lower right front of your engine that is not a "vacum" pump that is to force fresh air into your exhaust system for emissions. the solenoids next the to coil are run on engine vac. the vac. tree is located on the upper intake plenum near the throttle body. and the lines run around the back of the intakes and under for a few of them (along the fuel rail) if you are going to take those off you can disconnect them from the vac. tree and plug the ports there autozone sells rubber caps assorted sizes for under two dollars. i am not sure as to why you want to block the egr off for though. personally i tend to leave that stuff on i dont want to take the chance of going threw burnt vavles again.
I made a metal plate and 2 gaskets to seal the egr from the intake. I left the vacuum line connected so the valve still moves the position sensor, this keeps the check engine light from coming on. Engine runs good. I also have an MSD 6A with adjustable timing control so I can adjust the timing to the fuel type or driving condition.
If you keep the catalytic converters, do not disconnect the air pump as they will more than likely plug up. The air pump uses next to nothing as far as HP goes, you probably would not be able to measure the gain.
