Twice now when my 2004 f250 shortbed got just below 1/4 tank of diesel it stalled out like it was out of fuel. Last night i added 2 gallons of fuel after this happen and it started right up no problem. At first i was thinking ok the fuel gauge is off by 1/4 tank but then last night after putting in 1-2 gallons to make it to the gas station it only took 22 gals to fill it up and it should have taken at least 27 gallons. What are the possible issues that wouls cause this?
There was a thread here yesterday with the same issue. All I could think of was that the fuel pickup tube had an issue, like a hole, or crack or something that was 1/4 tank off the bottom.
If the fuel level in my 6.0 Excursion gets to that point I have to be careful to NOT park with the front end lower than the rear. It will starve it every time.
Even driving along and coming to a stop downhill will cause the fuel pressure to drop. If I stay too long it will die!
So when you get that low only stop in level, or uphill spots.....crazy!!!!
