UPDATE! What a 6.0 IPR failure looks like
After using the "Troubleshooting a no-start" in the tech folder and with the help of this forum I narrowed down my problem to a failed IPR. The oil pressure cut the screen against the inside edge of the IPR shaft, as witnessed by the circle cut above, and a small piece of the screen broke free and lodged in the IPR, sticking it open.
This problem began a month ago when I bought the truck. While installing an EGR delete kit after an EGR cooler failure I discovered that the previous owner neglected the oil system by failing to change the oil regularly. There was hard, dried encrusted oil scale on the dipstick, LITERALLY! When I changed the oil I decided to use high detergent 15W-40 Pennzoil and new OEM filter to help clean the engine. The detergents in the oil dissolved the sludge and scale, but some apparently got past the filter. Those engine deposits finally found their way to my IPR screen and clogged it up. The resulting over-pressure to the screen led to the epic failure you see above.
Thanks Bismic and everyone else who helped and added input.
