I have 94.5 turbo . 140,000 miles. im having sluggish start ups with some white smoke after start for just a second. I think the start up smoke is caused by the sluggish starts. I have checked both batteries and both are good with tests. With this be a relay?? could it be a starter? dont really put any miles on this truck but doing all fluid changes this fall as i do it just once per year. PLease give me some thoughts of what to test.. Thank you
That link from BuckHammer has a lot of good info. Now on the other hand I have recently come across your problem as recently as yesterday and would like to weigh in. For the last couple weeks I have been researching all over about the amount of white smoke I get on start up. I used that thread listed as my main source of info to draw conclusions from. I ohm'ed by GP's and replaced my GPR with the GPR109 suggested and nothing really changed. Flash forward to yesterday around this same time and my truck wouldn't start. Turns out that my starter was junk. It had been starting slowly only I didn't notice it because the truck is new to me. Well, with the new starter in I can tell it was starting slowly. My white smoke seems to be considerably less but I don't know if it just seems that way and it is a coincidence or if starting quicker (way quicker) some how makes the ignition process more efficient. Either way, with a slow start, I would be looking into a starter. Good luck.
