hi there, i have a 95 f150 XL and i need my codes to be read. im having tranny problems and i heard that the E40D tranny is electric, so it might be a sensor that's the problem. i took it to advance, but wouldn't you know it, there scanner isn't compatible with a 95 or older. so im having a buddy do it, does anyone know where the hook up might be for the scanner..?

You actually don't need a code reader. There's a cheap one you can buy, or you can use a small jumper wire or even a paper clip. The codes flash out from the Check Engine Light. Here's a link that describes how to do it. Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test
thats awsome! i think i might even have a light tester. so i understand HOW to do it..but how will that tell me if one of my sensors is bad? forgive my ignorance, im 16 and this is my first truck
Ford Fuel Injection » 3 Digit Self-test Codes 111-171 Compare the codes you get to this list (from the same site that hk gave you).
You don`t need to wire in a test light if you check engine light is working as it will flash out the codes.
