Hi, I was comparing my superduty with my friends and noticed my 2000 superduty f-250 does not have what looks to be a horzontal loooking shock located near the passenger side front end of the vehicle. Was this a option? It doesnt appear its ever been there.
Thanks

No it was standard. Its a steering stabilizer. It was removed at one point. He needs to put a new one on.
According to the link below, it looks like it was an option if you ordered the max front GAWR or snow plow package. My 2000 V10 (which didn't have either of those pkg's) came with the stabilizer while my dads 2000 7.3 dually didn't come with one. He bought his used though so the PO might've removed it. Anyways, link below. I got rid of all my order guides when I sold the truck last year or I'd look it up.
I have a stock one on my truck, but I'm looking to replace it with the Rough Country double stabilizer. I dread hitting any bumps on the expressway, it get a little wild sometimes. I'll get new shocks when I get the lift.
You are right Matt, I have the original window sticker and the snow plow package is not listed. That leads me to another question, would it be a be wise to install that steering shock if I am going to be towing approx 7,500 lbs? Also I do have the trailer tow package, but I do not have the rear stabilizer bar, doesnt look like its ever been there, would you guys recommend a rear stabilizer bar for towing?
Thanks for all the info

Yeah hitting bumps at speed is terrible. Truck wants to go where ever it wants.
I'd recommend getting one for sure

Like the others have said, the front stabilizer shock is part of an option package.
You don't need the steering stabilizer for towing (unless you have oversized tires).
A rear sway bar is nice, especially while towing. Hellwig makes a nice heavy duty bar that is much stiffer than the stock units.
