Here's some pics of my "new" 1979 Roll-A-Long. Just over 63k miles. 460 with a Weiand intake, Holley carb, Hooker headers, dual Flowmaster 40's, an RV cam, MSD ignition and distributor, Trans cooler, oil cooler. The amazing thing is everything works as it should. Right down to the very last light bulb. Runs like a champ. Drives like your typical E350. All over the road. I'm installing the stabilizer from Ford that's in another thread. All the front end parts are in excellent condition. I just don't like the overpowered steering and the boat feeling.

The orange/copper(?) color around the bottom on the outside looks similar to the Emberglo color of our 65 T-bird (VERY cool IMHO).
Good luck with it.

That's got the Griswold's and another family vacation film written all over it!! Tres Chic I say! Maybe all three Charlie's Angels could step out of it without missing a beat?
I was struck by how W--I--D--E it looks---that front overhang looks like a Frank Lloyd Wright creation!
In all seriousness though that is very well preserved, both inside and out. Pretty amazing find, worth some time and money getting it running right.

It actually runs very strong. The only problem is that with the cam that's in it if the idle is set where it's supposed to be there's not enough vacuum. That's a common issue with high performance motors. It's not a big issue with a manual transmission or an automatic with a high stall torque convertor. The way I've always solved the problem is to add a vacuum canister to store vacuum to be used at idle.

A lot of older cars have canisters. They have a lot of vacuum operated goodies on them such as hidden headlight doors etc. and motors had camshafts with higher lift and longer duration back in the day. On my van the only thing vacuum operated other than spark advance is the brakes. And I kinda like them to work right. lol. Back in my younger hot rodding days a #10 coffee can is exactly what we used. We couldn't afford anything else.

well its good to be back, haven't been here for a while.
bought a new/used van today. soon to have 2 E's on the road. I mine and one in the wifes name. mine is an E350 clubwagon extended diesel 450,000km , used and abused and always comes back for more.
Sunday's purchase is a 1992 E150 clubwagon Chateau . 1 owner, with only 140,000km on it. very little winter use and ultra clean. I had been looking for a 92 and up clubwagon gasser with a blown/engine work needed condition that was cheap enough to swap the body onto my diesel's chassis. saw this one and grabbed it less than 24 hrs after the ad came out. its way too clean to swap bodies and the wife loves it.........................
pics will be coming as we now have a new computer and new camera.
I have a 2003 e350 cargo with a powerstroke and blown trans. I might even build that chassis into a 4wd and keep watching for another clubwagon body.
picking up the new Chateau on Saturday, pics up on sunday maybe.
I wish the shortvan would have been carried into the 92& up body style, I would have one already!
