What does this measure. The bung in my new exhaust is too small to take this. I could probably get some hardware and step it down but I don't want to do that if it will screw up the sensor's function. It appears to be just a straight tube down into the pipe. If stepping it down would impact the function I'll just take it to an exhaust shop and have a new bung installed.
Yes it is. The pipe I had was to have a new different sized nipple attached but did not. So does this measure the pressure so as to signal the truck computer when the DPF needs cleaned?

yes, this is the backpressure sensor.
the others are temp sensors.
some of the new tuners have figured out how to work without any sensors.
spartan had trouble on the 1st go round with the egr not working right with no sensors.. they fixed that. most of the newer pipes come with no sensor bungs.

Be happy about that. I have two problem sensors. This one which don't fit in the bung. They were supposed to include a piece with the pipe to fix that but didn't. And, I can't get the very back one out. I'm just gonna get a new one for that one.

as my DPF had been replaced within the last 6 months and the truck hardly driven, the sensors were new and not frozen..

I don't plan to tune it, I have an Edge evo to turn off the DPF cleaning and run in stock mode. I rarely drive the truck except to tow my 5er so I see no good reason to spend 1000 bucks or so. I just want to get the oil cleaned up and do away with the inconvience of the exhaust cleanings.
All done, all good. Used a hose barb to get the pressure sensor hooked up and bought a new one for the one that wouldn't come out. Thanks for all the help. Now I can do an oil change and start with a nice clean crank case.
