Thanks for the offer nut I'm in the Seattle area.
Armycook thanks for that link.
My neighbor works for a local Ford dealer in the parts dept. and he said why don't you just buy a Ford engine? I told him I had no idea that they sold engines that old. He ordered it the next day. I'm glad to see he got me a great price also.
Stay away from Advance/Autozone. I have heard of their engines being torn down to find only one or two cylinders bored with over size pistons instead of all of them. Also the cheapest parts in them to allow them to sell so cheap. A good junkyard/used block and a local rebuilder with a good reputation is the best way to go. Fordmotorsports would be another good option.
Wow id be crazy mad if I found this on a purchase...
sorry to hear it but glad I asked.
what sort of warranty did ford offer on it?
hopefully not a tough fix - since you bought it from ford will they fix it at no cost to you?

Sorry for the delay on the reply but I and my father in law got busy and didn't get a chance to do a leak down on it untill last weekend. It is an intake valve on #2.
Ford wants me to bring it to them and they will replace the head or motor at no cost.
I did notice the little heat tattle tell on that head was missing. We never overheated it. I did tell the ford parts guy this and he said who's to say it didn't fall off in shipping or when it was being installed. Hopefully their warranty department has the same attitude.
Good job by Ford on the replacement. I has a similar experience with GMC a few years ago. Bought a transmission from them and in stalled it myself and I'm not sure if I screwed something up or not but the trans died and I took the whole Blazer into the dealership and they replaced the trans and covered the labor for free.
I went to the website listed in this post and got excited when it said "Enter your Vin to find parts..." but it does not recognize the old 11 character vin numbers.
