because of fuel milage. I ran out of fuel on the way home the night i bought the truck, and was forced to run it on grill bottles from conveinance store. it took me three bottles {60 ponds of fuel to drive 66 miles. that equals about a dollar per mile
Who in their right mind changed an F-700 from gas to propane?
That 429 is defiantly too small, and probably not built to run lpg.
I read your other posts... sounds like the propane hauling company switched it over for convenience, because there's no way ford put Impco 425 mixers onto their motors from the factory.
Try finding a wiring diagram for your truck and track down all the fuel pump/fuel sending unit circuits. Also anything fuel injection related. If they're gone, then you'll have to make/rob a harness from a different truck.

Are you wanting efi or carb?
I am not sure that it is impco, just guessing by the numbers i see on the parts. almost certain that ford did this because there is 7.0 lp engine starting procedures listed on the drivers sun visor. where this is a theft recovery , and the state issued a new title I can not run decode vin #. vin number is as follows... 1FDXF708XSVA14890 ..maybe someone else can decode this . I really dont care if 2 or 4 barrel just want to save as much as i can on fuel

also the starting procedure sticker is a ford sticker.. but really dont know
Basically you'll need everything from tank to carb.
First, chick to see if the factory wiring is still intact. If not, find a doner truck and start splicing. You'll need to find the fuel pump relay, wiring to the fuel pump and tank sending unit. Plus an ignition source to the electric choke.
If you've got a source for a used or new OEM tank, great. If not, custom built. Feed and return lines from the tank and the carb, inline fuel filter... I'm sure I'm missing lots.
If you want duel tanks then that's a whole 'nother mess of circuits and parts.
Is there speed control?
Give us more of an idea of what you have, what's been tampered with, etc.
Oh... and you might need to change the timing on the engine, as it's probably been advanced. Possibly mechanical and vacuum advance have been tampered with as well. Get someone who knows how to read a timing light to help.
Ford built propane trucks for the government/military in the early 90s. It could very well be stock to run on propane.
X2 this ... with the ford sticker over the visor its a stock LP burner. It should get better mileage though. I dont know what ford deletes in this build to know what you need...
I'd be more apt to find information on converting it over to run on CNG than pump gas. CNG is cheaper, and you get a filling "station" installed into your gas line at home.
I doubt that there's many things that need done to the truck to run it on CNG

That depends on your location. A therm here if off the charts. I use around $200 -400 a month just for simple tasks at the house - Ridiculous!
cng is not even available where i live. cell phone service is spotty here at best. i guess i am just going to stick carb on it , if it will bolt in place. if not i will change intake and all.i guess i really need to figure what kind of mileage would be normal on propane, my truck could just be really out of whack. This truck runs really good so prollly is ok .
