302 Head Oiling

I have torn down the 302 out of my truck and started cleaning the block to take to the shop for machining and noticed what appear to be 2 oil drain-back holes for the heads. One is on each end.

BUT - I don't see any pressurized passage to get oil TO the head?

Anybody know how pressurized oil gets to the heads?

Just curious...

Here is a diagram showing the pressurize oil flowing thru the horizontal galleys that feed the bearings and lifters. Oil gets to the top of the heads thru the pushrods.

Thanks Dave - where did you get that diagram? That is what I have spend a week looking online for.

I suspected the pushrods were the way.

Thanks again,

I learned a long time ago to make Google my friend. Think I just looked for SBF oiling diagram, took five mins. Sure I have about the same diagram in one of the Ford manuals also. I've been using the "How to Rebuild your SBF" for years, one is in the computer room and the other right out in the garage. Good luck with the rebuild, any questions, I think I have seven SBF's in the garage from '66'-2000.
