Ac idler ?

Ac idler ?

I was wondering if any one has gutted the Ac Pump to use as a idler pully for ac delete or should i just buy a bypass pulley? just wondering because i plan to not put the AC back in my truck till next spring.

If you don't turn it on it's effectively an idler pulley.

Agree, without the electric clutch engaged, the AC is doing nothing. Still a source of power robbing belt friction though and unnecessary the AC unit itself adds weight and clutter, and reduces air circulation to the engine.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you're not from Texas. AC is LIFE-SAVING, not "clutter" in these parts.

lol Amen.

Vote two for just put the compressor back in. No real loss if its not on (power/MPG). If there is no oil in its system DDONTTTT hook up the wire so it cant get kicked on by mistake. If its (edit)- Not- seized up that is...

yeah i can put it back on but i plan to just put the compressor on not all the other crap i wont need it till next spring but i planned to buy all new ac parts so i wondered if i could gut the compressor because it weighs a ton.

You got more riding in your colon .... Is this a dragster or a truck ?
lol anyways, just dont hook up the wire and its a idler, as said. Some defrosters turn it on. IDK if ford did this or not. If they did w/o oil in the system it would be seized up before long... No need for all the crud with it if your not going to use that compressor come spring. If you are, cover the holes. GL ...
