Just got off the phone with Maverick at Racer X and he was very informative and helpful. He spent about a half hour discussing my trans and possible solutions (I have a slight hard shift from 2-3 @ WOT). I think I'm going with their custom valve body and @ $215 seems like a good deal. Looking forward to doing business with them
yep i spent about a hour on the phone with them and he never tried to get off the phone with me till i was done with my questions. If i dont do a ZF5 swap then i will be getting my parts from them
Thanks for pointing that out William, I didn't know that...
I'm planning on a triple disc converter from them as well as a valve body for my 4x4 trans i'm swapping in. Then a full kit from them when it needs a rebuild.
It was a real pleasure dealing with him over the phone. Im hoping to have this done in a month or so. I'll keep y'all posted when I pull the trigger and how it turns out
When I'm running around empty the shifts with my RacerX value body are a little hard but firm. BUT, when I'm pulling a load its heaven. I wouldn't be without it now that I know how good it is. Maverick is great to deal with.
A little sorry if your interested, if not stop reading, LOL. When I first put it in and went for a ride the third gear shift was so hard it felt like it knocked out my fillings. Scared the dog so bad she was on the floor shaking. I'm still surprised that the driveshaft or something else didn't break. Called Maverick and we figured it out, Tony's tunes for some reason was locking the TC BEFORE the shift into third gear with the new valve body. I sent it in for a reburn and asked Tony to raise up (delay)the TC lock a little and he did. All was good after the reburn, after it shifted into third the TC would lock curing the problem. I think what happen to me was a fluke.
Special thanks goes out to Darin, I bounced a lot of shi! off of him trying to figure this out!
I have a similar problem Glenn. Not all the time, but every once in a while if I'm accelerating a little harder than usual the 2-3 shift is really hard. Maybe I have the same issue...

My problem was the TC lock was so close to the shifting into third that I couldn't tell if the TC lock was before the shift into third or after the shift into third. You defiently want the TC lock after the shift into third.
