EGR Valve Cleaning

Was going to clean my EGR valve which I have done before, but I could not pull the wire harness off. I have had this off before, and I don't remember it being this difficult to remove. Is there something I need to do to get this thing off. Last time I just pulled it off I don't remember doing anything special.

No special tool required. The plug does have a watertight seal which makes for a tight fit.
