Hey yall. Im about to order some mickey thompson classic 2 wheels and want to make sure the bolt pattern is correct. I have a 1974 F250 4X4 with a 78 front end.
Are there any other parts i need to order with the new rims like center cabs (the ones that stick out)?
The Classic IIs will include chrome plated center caps with purchase of the wheel.
Be cautious of them, though, as they are cheap chrome plated steel pieces and mine have already started to rust after having had them on there for a couple of months. It's the middle of summer, and this thing has never seen salt.
The do sell stainless ones as an upgrade if you're so inclined. I just gave my axle ends a fresh coat of black paint and went without.
All 8 lug wheels are the same bolt pattern (prior to 1999)

I'm running the 17" classic IIs, which are only available in 17x9 with the 5" backspacing.
My highboy has a 79 steering box, but I have a dual shock setup that I have to clear. I was hesitant at first, but I have 1" wheel spacers all around. Haven't had any problems so far. This reduces backspacing to 4".
My father's hiboy has the stock steering setup. He runs 16.5x9" rims with 5" backspace. The tires are 36x16.5x16.5. He has a slight rub on the control valve on a hard right turn, but nothing severe. Maybe he's misread the backspacing information, but I don't think the steering servo should be a problem for most people...
Ok so here are the ones im looking 4 i think. I will be running 35X12.5 tires. I like them to stick out of the well's a little. Will these work with a 74 Highboy?
I would imagine they will stick out a little bit without looking funny.
You should check that they clear your front brake calipers, though. Maybe someone else can verify clearance. The 16" aluminum wheel that I was able to test fit on my dual piston caliper setup did interfere, but it was an older eagle alloy or something like that.
As for the alluminum 16 inch wheels fitting. The only problem I forsee is if you have front calipers which I think 74 did not have. Anyway if you do you will either need to grind down the calipers for the aluminum wheels to fit or just get 17`s.
