Yep, or just replace the tube with some air hose in the right size, couple bucks... If that doesn't fix it you might need a new MAP sensor. Unplugging it just makes it assume boost pressure so it won't run GREAT, but better than with a bad sensor or plugged tube.
If the truck runs better with the MAP sensor unplugged, you either have a clogged or leaking MAP hose or a bad sensor.
The A/F ratio in a diesel engine doesn't matter like it does in a gas engine. The way these engines are designed there is no throttle butterfly or restriction of any kind in the intake plenum so they run lean by design. That is why they need a good (and BIG) air filter -- They flow a lot more air than a gasser.
Im having a similar problem with mine...you can be driving it along and it will just cut out but then come straight back in again...sometimes it will stop while driving and the only way to make it start while rolling is to switch the ignition off then back on again and it will run fine...sometimes when it cuts out and come straight back again the engine light will stay on and I have no power under 2 grand ...if I switch it off and on again while still rolling it will fix the problem....

Hey guys, still not sure if its the MAP sensor or not. I bought a wrangler a few weeks ago and thats been taking up most of my time, but i still need to fix my powerstroke. I drove the f250 around the block last night and it idled very poorly and had very little power. My boost gauge was reading about 5lbs of boost going up small hills which is pretty normal, but it still had almost no power or speed. I've been hesitant to replace the MAP sensor until I'm a little more sure because I cant buy it locally, so I'll have to order it. Any more suggestions.
