No, I don't agree. They should stay there just like that until the French restore the dignity to the sight. These men died saving their stinking butts. They should be reminded every day of what a sorry bunch of ingrates they are.
You guys all saw the list of French owned businesses right?
the problem is that no frenchie will restore the sight, even if they find those who are responsable. it will be the Americans who maintain such sites who will be the ones restoring the site. also, they dont care if they are seen as ingrates. the french are not our friends and its becoming more evident everyday that americans couldnt care less.
id like to see any of the anti-war, wannabe hippies defend this or any of the number of similar acts.
I'm in no way excusing the actions of these idiots and don't want to start anything here.
I just want to point out that this was the very few, and should not be taken as a sign that all of France thinks this way. In fact, according to the British press, there has been an outcry in France about these acts of desecration.
WWII memorials in France, Belgium, etc... are lovingly and meticulously maintained by the people of those of countries. The vast majority there haven't forgotten the sacrifices made by the Allies in WWII.

sorry waxy but such sites are maintained by Americans in those countries........look it up, its fact.
I know that the Canadian and British memorials are maintained for the most part by the country in which they are in. This is especially true of the smaller monuments and memorials that dot the entire countryside, many not "official".
We do send money to aid in construction and upkeep, and I believe we have official representatives there as well.
I suspect the same is true for many of the sites where American servicemen are laid to rest and many of the monuments.
I watched an excellent show on this on the History Channel. Very sad, each year there are fewer and fewer WWII vets, but it did show the reverence that the people (well the majority anyway) have for these sites.
I'm sure you're right about the major and "official" American memorial grounds though. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong, but many of these official sites are actually "American Soil", granted by the countries to the US after WWII due to it's policy that all servicemen must be recovered and buried on American soil.

From what I heard today that is correct. A lady who is a historian called a talk show and said that the cemetaries in other countries are "American Soil" and that the sites are maintained by the U.S. Government by the agency who maintains the sites in the U.S. I don't think they should be moved either. To me that would be disrespectful to the brave men who lost their lives there. I also don't think the acts represent the entire French nation, even though some of the things you hear and read make you wonder sometimes. It's like the violent "peace protestor", not everybody who thought we shouldn't go to war was violent about it.
did ya'll hear about the earthquake in Paris. All of the buried American and British soldiers that died and are buried there turned over in thier graves.
don't by anything French. Lets see how the frogs like that. Better yet after we finish with Saddam lets finish up with the French.
God Bless our Troops on your heads frenchy.

50 percent of people polled wanted Iraq to win. That is not a vast majority.
I think what we should do is have a construction team to alter the statue of liberty so she is facing france and flipping them off instead of holding a torch!!
