Heater stays hot???

I have a 98 Explorer XLT - When the heat is on the gauge to control the tempreture does not work. If I turn it to cooler air it stays HOT! I tried the A/C and that doesn't work as well.
What could this be? Please help.

You have a very common yet very nasty problem with the heater box. Its an expensive repair but you dont have a choice if you want your air to work right. Others on this forum have dealt with the problem so they can shed more light on it.

Will this fix the A/C as well?
I have printed out the fix and gave it to my hubby who will be fixing it this weekend. I will let ya know how it turned out.

If the a/c is hot but the max a/c is working then you definately have the blend door issue. So, to answer your question, yes it will take care of that as well.
