I've been lusting after an A4 for a few years now, and I finally bit the bullet. Being in Colorado, Subaru's are more common than dog turds, but they're just as reliable. They're less expensive to maintain, repair, etc... but I can say this without a doubt: the Audi is just a nicer, more refined vehicle.
It's a 2.0 turbo, 6speed maual Quattro and rides SOOOOOO nice. I got $800 knocked off for a busted glovebox door and CEL. All fixed for $250 out of pocket, although price for the glovebox door from the dealership was that much plus tax!!
I bought it because I wanted it, period. But with the quattro all-wheel-drive, it'll do just fine ripping up to the mountains this coming winter too!! No worries, Nyx is not going anywhere!
Here's the new toy next to the queen of the stable:
i have had numerous audis...most A4s...i love the quattro. they are a great machine, but when they break, they can be expensive. i started to get into fixing them myself and even then, parts are somewhat expensive...i love them though and its had to beat the engineering in them. seeing yours next to your truck, makes me want one again. congrats on the ride...i bet you will save a pile on fuel costs...
Brendan, put some studded snow tires on that thing for the winter and it will make it's own roads.
Our A4 will leave belly marks on the snow that we just plowed through.
The Mustang is Tracie's and absolutely worthless with anything more than 1/2" of snow on the ground.

That's the plan, sir!! FYI - this isn't the one I called you about. I missed that deal, but I'm MUCH happier with this one. 30mpg @ 75mph seems easy, and I haven't started tweaking yet. 100% stock so far.

I still have the 96 Passat TDI that gets 43mpg with the A/C cranking and going 80mph+ on the highway. That's the fuel king right there. Maybe in 3-5 years I'll get the front half of a German A4 with the 6speed diesel quattro brought over and do me a swap....

Sadly, they're going away in a few months to be replaced by (price-gouging diesel emission loving) CO plates

I looked at the A3's and I would have bought one except that if you get the diesel, it ONLY comes with the automatic (livable) and NO QUATTRO!!! I haven't ridden in one but a co-worker took one for a drive and said they are very small inside, even for the driver.

i raced a chipped 2.0t in my big turbo 98 1.8t passat. i was very impressed.
I need to get Vag-Com (now VCDS) and make sure things are 100% before tweaking. The diverter valve was the original unit, with just over 100k on her!! It was toast, so I replaced it and she's much happier.
I must say I'm loving it. I swapped the entire glovebox (not just the busted door) and it took a total of 11 minutes with hand tools. It was just 8 screws (all the same size & length too!) to remove, a gentle pull and unplug the harness for the lights, and out she came. It seems like such a simple thing, but after working on my own (and friends') vehicles for 20+ years, it's little details that show whether it was slapped together or actually thought about when it was designed.
I've been to 100mph so far and it's just as smooth at that speed as it is at 20mph.
