Hello all. New to this forum. I have a 2000 Excursion. I have seen post on this problem but nothing like I am facing. My AC blows through my defrost. However, if I turn the switch to high 4x4 it changes and comes through the regular vents for a little while and then goes back to defrost. I have changed the vacuum lines on the hubs but nothing has changed. This happened all at once about a week ago. I can't seem to find any vacuum leaks using brake cleaner. Is there something else I can do as I feel this is probably a vacuum issue but Im not sure where to start. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Fuses are fine. Not exactly sure where the motor is. Is it on the wheel well? What does it look like? Anyway, if I switch back and forth between 4x4 High and 2wd it blows out the regular vents for about 30 seconds and then slowly goes back to the defrost vents. Everytime I switch it between the two it works fine for 30 seconds or more. Thoughts?
If its working properly. Leaks could be around the pump. Unplug it,it should only blow out the defrost. Plug it in it should pump up for a bit then hvac should work as usual. It's right behind the passenger battery on diesel models. Center of the fenderwell.
Plug off the main vacuum source to this switch, that Shepard2 posted, from the engine then see how your floor and defrost work. If it works then either the switch is leaking, vacuum lines going to your hubs or the hubs them self are leaking.
I plugged off the solenoid and my AC now blows out the vents. Can I just leave it plugged off and just use the manual locks for 4x4 or do I need to find the leaks? Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
