K code transmission
On my door there is a transmission code "K", what tranny is this.
I know it is an Automatic, with out overdrive.

I still do not know for sure.
K (labeled on the driver door on the build sticker) is Automatic, but is it a Three Speed C6, C5, or a 4 speed A4LD, 4R44E, 4R55E?
It is not overdrive, so I am down to only a few options.
C6 was used from '66-'89 (1982 fits in this range)
The C6 is rated as an (stock transmission usage) A= High Torque
I just do not know for sure. And want to know if someone might also have a 300 with a Auto, without overdrive that can tell me for sure.
I have flipped through the DECEMBER 2002 Carcraft in the "Ford Auto Trans ID Guide" Page 40, but I still can't figure it out.

How about I stake my reputation on the code K meaning a C6 3 spd automatic transmission?
Transmission Codes:
U – Automatic 4R70W (F-150, F-250)
E – Automatic E4OD (F-150, F-250)
M – 5 speed manuaoverdrive (F-150, F-250, Ranger)
D – Automatic 5 speed (Ranger)
T – Automatic 4 speed (Ranger)

For 1982, K does indeed mean C6, and behind a 300, it sounds right. I haven't seen a C4 in an 80-86 F-Truck with a 300, only C6's, and one AOD. The C5 was avalable in 82 and 83 F100's, behind the 3.8 V6 only.
