I have a bad rear tank on my f250 and i need to replace it, is there a way to replace it with out taking the bed off? somebody please help me by possibly giving step by step directions, thanks
Remove the filler neck. Remove the straps or skid plates. The tank will drop. Reach up and remove the retainer ring and remove the assembly that holds the lines and the sender. It's a tight squeeze, but the tank will drop out.
Something you may want to consider, if you're replacing the rear tank anyway is replacing it with a 38 gallon tank from a Bronco. Here is a link with the step by step directions if you're interested.
Many people here said that is easy taking the bed off. Just my two cents. And yes you maybe should consider to get a bigger tank and do at the same time the fuel filler tank mod

Nope, not harpooned, I did the vent hose mod though. Got rid of the small inner hose on the fill neck and ran a bigger external vent hose from the roll-over valve grommet on top to the top of the filler neck.
Just had to extend the pickup tube and float rod on the 38 gallon tank. Fits perfect though, just hangs down further than stock.

Ian, you have to add the mod in your signature.

I don't have mine mounted below, just sits in my bed. But there's room for it if I wanted to and still had the hardware. My old stuff was all screwed up when I bought it, and it was a dually then so I didn't need a spare.
are you guys sure that the 38 galon tank will fit properly without hanging tdown too far? doi need to buy a new fuel pump that goes in the tank for the 38 gal tank? and for the filler neck mod, i heard it was expensive and does it really pay off?
You don't have a fuel pump in the tank. The big tank hangs down about as far as the stock tank with the spare in place. If you're worried about angle of departure, you can put the spare in the bed.
