I just bought a '77 150 with 48,000 original miles on it. the radio is a tape player and i am not sure if it is factory or not. It does not work and i want to get a basic am/fm radio with an aux plug so i can play mp3s. All the ones i have seen are over $200. What is up with that? Any input? Is there a chep place or do i go to the junkyard? Thanks
All you have to do is gently fold back the metal ears that the stereo mounts to and use a stereo mount kit from a Volvo. Flip the Volvo kit upside down and it mounts perfectly.

You would still have to cut the original plastic dash panel and that is what a lot of us do not want to do.

my ignorance gets the best of me again. I jump back and forth between the bump and dent forums, and i thought i was in the bump forum when i answered this. my apologies.

Understood.
The Volvo kit works great on the old bumps for sure.
I wanted the radio to look period correct, so I just picked up an old Alpine and Kenwood two shafter. I'll run the system through a Clarion EQ, that way I won't have to cut my dash up and I'll still have the aux imput going to the EQ.
