My son convinced me to come over from the dark side this week. I just aquired a 86 F150 Ext. cab long box four wheel drive. I have a whine that I believe is coming from the transmission.
Is there something that I should be concerned about or is this normal for this vehicle?
It runs down the road really well and the engine was rebuilt not long ago and had a recent valve job done to it. There are a few things that I will do to make it more enjoyable to ride in but this whine is bugging me. What should I be looking for?
First of all it is an automatic. Took it to local Ford garage and they tell me that I have a diode out in the alternator that is causing the noise. I wpould rather replace the alternator.
