I am quite new to the 4x4 section but here is what i have. I am doing a frame off on a F150 extended cab truck. I have a set of F250 axles and 4x4 components that are going underneath the F150. I am working on reinforcing the frame so that it will be stronger just in case. I have a set of 36/12.5 R16.5 military tires of of the humvees that I want to stick on the truck. What do I need to do to make sure that they will clear without cutting the body up? Thanks guys I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I figured if anyone knew it would be you.
are you going to run the f250 springs? either way i would run at 8". 6 of suspension and 2 of body lift. come on guys light me up for the body lift part lol. just do it right and extend your shifters and move your bumpers up so it dont look stupid. change your cab bolts to grade 8 dont use the grade 5 that will come in the kit. also drill out the body bushings at the front of the cab to accept a larger diameter bolt. the ones that are in it stock are pretty skinny. i dont remember offhand what size they are.
Whackoff, how can you make that suggestion when you have no idea what year model hes working on? I guaran-damn-tee a 73-79 will not need 8" of lift to clear 36s and not everyone likes hugified BGTL amounts of lift on their 80-97.
OP,
Please post up a few more specs about your truck. It makes it much easier to help you.
Sorry the body of the truck will be from an 85 F150. I am putting the axles on it because
A. I got the truck for $100 pulled the engine trans and transfer case to put in my 85 and I would like the extra weight for a little better pulling.
B. I had the axles and F250 suspension from the truck and they would allow me to have 4x4 which i previously did not have.
I realize that they are probably not the most amazing for choices when it comes to a lifted truck but I am not looking for anything crazy just something that will clear these tires and give me a little stiffer suspension and 4 wheel drive.
what are the axles? d44 solid front from a 70's f250? and a d60 rear? if you are talking about an f250 ttb front axle as a swap you are somewhat screwed and it will cost way more than it's worth to make it work.
The F250 was an 88 so whatever came stock in those for a rear axle. The front axle is the ttb out of the F250. I know it isnt an ideal front axle but I thought it would work until I could find something better. Sorry for being naive but why wouldnt the TTB work with my setup?
37's fit a stock 95 f350 with the bumper spaced out and 36's fit a stock 78 bronco with nothing done..39.5's fit with 4" of lift and some cutoff wheel work As for your truck, I guess put it all together and see where it sits.. but you should have plenty of room with a 4" lift, may not need any at all.
