Electrical Problem

I have been searching the net for about a week now but I guess I can't find the right combination of words to pull relevant results. Three times in the past two weeks I have been driving down the road when my dash goes dead. From what I can tell it is starting with the battery or alternator (both of which tested out fine). The first time it happened I was in stop and go traffic on the freeway. As I got back to open lanes I hit the gas and the truck wouldn't go anywhere. The engine kept running at about 700 RPM but all the gauges were dead, no lights, horn, windows, radio. The AC was still blowing so I switched it off and everything fired back up. The other two times I was doing about 30 MPH around town and the same thing happened. Any ideas? I can't even recreate the problem when I want to.

Thanks in advance!

By the way, it's a '97 Expedition Eddie Bauer with just over 200K miles.

The first thing to do is remove, clean, and reinstall both battery cable to see if it helps. If it doesn't, you could be looking at needing a new battery.
