97 Expd low power while starting
I am trying to figure out the problem. I have a 97 Expd I bought used about 6 months ago. Changed Alt. about 4 months ago and ran fine until about a few weeks ago. There seems to be a problem when starting it. Sometimes when I begin to crank the power goes real low for a few second then starts up. It ends the memory on my radio too but this doesnt happen everytime. I have been shutting the AC and radio off when I shut it off but this still happens but again not everytime. Has this happened to anyone before. I havent checked the battery yet but am going to soon but it appears to be charging fine while driving according to the guage. Any advice??

sounds like a week battery. It might have a dead cell, and not taking a full charge. I might be wrong and correct me if I am but the battery gague on the dash is reading what the altinater is putting out when driving. Not nessarly what the voltage on the battery is. gl

Had the same exact problem with my 98EB, even the radio memory. Replaced the battery and everything is fine. Cranks right up. Voltage was fine, but I guess it just didnt have enough amps left in it.
