Thumbs up

Thanks guys, that is what I was hoping the the 10000 lb package was, but of course noone at the dealership knew anything about it. The truck has been on order for about a month now. I ordered an 11 in May but that was the one that got hit in the dealer lot on the weekend of the 4th. Bashed in the drivers side bed, cab and doors. Looked to be about 10k in damage so we ordered a 12 I would still like to know what happened to it.

I believe my truck has the 10k package. That is just the vehicle capacity on the 4 tires attached to it, right? Would the GCWR still be the full capacity (truck + trailer)?
The GCVWR is driven (pun intended) by your drive train and your towing package. Here are the 2012 numbers (which should be the same as the 2011 numbers):

http://www.ford.com/trucks/superduty/specifications/towing/

So for example, if your truck has a 10K GVWR and your towing capacity is 14K, your GCVWR is 24K lbs.

There's a chart somewhere on FTE that shows the truck and towing ratings in terms of GCVWR instead of separately, but I can't find it at the moment.

VIN plates sometimes used to show both GVWR and GCVWR, but that may just be for heavier trucks.

They weren't always rated that way though. Here's from the 2011 Diesel Supplement:

The Job1 350 DRW trucks are rated at 29,000, Job 2 DRW's gained an extra 1k to 30,000 with the help of an extra cross member on the frame in the middle of the bed area.

Just to clarify the upgraded GCVWR for the Job 2 build, the center cross member was upgraded to a higher tensile strength steel. There was not an additional cross member added.

I feel like I might be nit picking here but I did not want Job 1 owners trying to find their missing cross members...
