hard start after warm-up

I have a 2006 F-250 CC with the 6.0L diesel engine. This engine has approx 300K miles and has been a good runner. However I am now experiencing a starting problem after the truck has ben run long enough to get the engine to normal operating temp. It starts OK first thing in the morning, but after getting warmed up I have to use starter fluid (spray) to get it to fire up. I also get periodic error code 2291 indicatin g possible low fuel injector pressure. Any ideas as what may need to be corrected ? fuel filters have been replaced already, but no help.

With that many miles there could be a number of issues, but most likely you have a leak in the high pressure oil system, or a worn high pressure oil pump. The most common leak is at the STC fitting, which connects the high pressure oil pump to the branch tubes, but broken branch tubes, injector o-rings, standpipe o-rings, oil rail plugs, etc. will cause the same concern.

Personally, unless you have a bunch of extra free time I would take it to a dealer that can pressure test the system for you and find the cause, then you can repair it yourself.
