Ok so here it is. My truck started shaking like it wsa loosing power a week ago but no codes. A day went by and then it thur a code for #5 cylinder misfiring. The coil packs were OEM original with 186000 miles. I replaced the coil packs and cleared the codes. Truck ran good for a couple miles but once I hit 60MPH it started doing it again but hasnt thrown a code yet. It is almost like the truck wants to shut iff but still keeps goen forward till I let off the throttle. Please any thoughts on what this is. The plugs only have 20,000 on them so I didnt change them primarily cause they suck to get to.
You still have another faulty coil.
The fault is shorted turns. It won't set a code so becomes difficult to find which one because it's not a hard fault.
Good luck.
Bluegrass should I be changing my wires and plugs? Do you think that may be the cause. I replaced both of the coil packs but not the wires. I am pretty sure tthe wires were replaced with the plugs but I am not possitive that I did them in the past
The tipoff is the 45 to 60 mph drivability issue.
The EGR operates and leans the fuel/air ratio out.
If one coil cannot fire the lean mix you feel it as a missfire.
It usually will clear once the EGR closes until you the next time the driving condition is entered.
If the coil gets bad enough you may feel a miss at times at low speed from a stop for some short time.
Good luck.
