I have a 1999 Ford Ranger that is a V6- Automatic. We recently had to take it in to get the brakes repaired, and when we got it back our engine started shuttering really bad- about when you reached 20 MPH. So we take it into a mechanic- he tells us our CAM sensor is out and our fuel system is jacked. So he replaces the sensor, and he does a fuel system tune up. Now the car is driving fine... until you reach about 60MPH. Once it hits that the car shakes and shutters and will not accelerate anymore.
Now I have had them check the transmission, they say everything is fine. And when I turn on the car, and accelerate it for a while I can visually see the engine start shaking when it is parked.
What could be wrong with it?? A diagnosis says everything is fine, but obviously it is not. When I take it to Firestone they keep adding additional things like a radiator flush and stuff like that... but that couldn't make an engine shutter like that... could it?
Please help, I am so desperate for someone to give me something to work off of.
I had a Nissan Stanza that shook alot. I thought it was dirty injectors, tried cleaning without any luck. I replaced injectors; still shook. I then tried advancing the timing; shaking was reduced. Found a small vacuum leak; improved some more.
My gut thinks it's related to timing, but I think the group here needs some additional details. Can you tell us anything more?
