Folks,
My brother just sold this bellhousing on Ebay. I just noticed something odd about it relating to a bit of trivia mentioned on this board in the last month or two.
What's unusual?
???????
Brett
The darned thing is pink. Who would admit to owning a pink bellhousing? The only manly color is yellow. As my wife says, "That bellhousing yellow is manly, but I like it too!"
Hmmm, what looks like 2 possible starter location bulges makes me want to take a wild guess.
Something to do with GM in 1953 when the Hydro plant burned down and they were putting DynaSlows in Olds and Cads???
That still doesnt explain the clutch fork hole unless its an inspection or access cover.
And again I doubt that GM used aluminum back then.
I told ya it was a wild guess. The Olds had a left side starter.
If it is Ford I beg merciful forgiveness. Im hung up on the bulges.
Looks like it is for a '60s Pontiac or Olds... probably fits a Muncie and Borg-Warner T10. I think those housings fit big blocks and smallblocks but I'm not sure.
And Carl's the Winner (sorta)!
What does Hollander list this tag for?
HEG-AC
(I think)
Yes folks, what you are looking at is:
'THE MISSING LINK'
'THE IRREFUTABLE PROOF'
'THE STAIN IN MONICA'S DRESS'
that P*ontiac stuffed Ford T&C Toploader 3 speeds in late 60's T*mpest and Firechickens.
That was a surprise for the GTO boys the first time they bought a shifter.
Sorry about draggin' this out so long. Since this factoid had already been pointed out and you guys are such eagle eyes I though it'd be over in 5 minutes....
Adios,
Brett
PS. Well, at least we now know who of you have had to dig through a mountain of bellhousings at the junk yard before. Extra points if you still have all your fingers.
