I scored a 4 speed from my dad not sure yet if it is a np435 or a t18/19. but I was wondering if I have to scrounge up a divorced xcase or is there an adapter kit to mate the xcase to the trany? Trany is in good condition but there was a little wine when it was towed away. So once I find out which trany it is I will but a rebuild kit. I am thinking that the best thing to do is try to find a junked highboy and take the xcase cross member and drive lines from it. Let me know thanks for the help
The easiest would be to get a divorced case, but then you still have to fit it in. I think that short output transmissions can just get the case bolted to the back once you have an adapter, but I'm not 100% sure on that. If it is a long tailshaft tranny, then you need to swap output shafts.
Do you already have a transfercase? If so, I think the adapter on the front will already work.
I have a c6 and np203 in this truck right now but I want to put a manual in with granny low cause I use in the the woods in central washington for haulig wood and such. Just checking may keep like it is then slowly get everything for a divorced set up and swap it all in
Sorry long day we know tHat it came out of dads highboy and that's all the looking I did I have to move my motor and a trany that's in the path to get to it
make sure it is for a 4wd..tailshaft housing has a bolt hole on the d/side of the trans for the transfer case shift lever and a bolt on yoke for the d/shaft...you can see where the bolt for the shifter would go just behind the tarp
I'm sure it is a 4x4 tranny it came out of a 4x4 truck. But I could be wrong the problem I'm having is that I have a c6 with a marrried case and I don't know if I can convert the trany to or transfer to run one way or the other
there is a lot of parts you ar e going to need to do a swap, starting form the clutch pedal assembly rods, clutch forks bellhousing and everything else, the best choice would be to find a beat up donor truck and do your swap, after having mostly manual trans trucks I have begun to like my autos more, especially after being stick on a hill and unable to get enough clutch rod travel to get the trans to come out of 1st gear and into reverse so I could back down the hill,...caused be the twist of the frame due to me showing off and digging some holes on the way up the hill and my preferrence on the autos is also due to growing older, .... check to see if the output shafts are the same , I am thinking not, if you go w/ the stick to the married, but you can probably locate your parts to do the swap, remember w/ the divorced transfer case you are going to have a long front d/shaft which may be a problem w/ some clearances when going over things...good luck w/ it
if you were closer you could have had access to the manual set up in my 79 f250, I am swapping that over to auto..at some point, this last two seasons of snow out here on the east coast nailed me down to the auto trans over my manual trans trucks...and the we are back to the old age issue also
