That's one thing I never understood when it came to guys that wanted the gas tank out of the cab. I figure the cab is the safest place to be if in a wreck. Why would you want to take a gas tank that is in the safest place and put it somewhere where 90% of vehicles will drive right under your truck and IN to the gas tank. I figure if I'm hit hard enough for an in cab gas tank to be a problem and explode...I probably wasn't surviving anyway.
Bingo!
I hear guys all the time that want to remove the in-cab tank for "safety" reasons...
Those guys are probably smokers, and don't realize that a cigarette or a cigar do not burn hot enough to ignite gasoline. But a match does I know. However if your that careless maybe you just shouldn't smoke.
Did anyone notice how much the back of the cab flexed. Or that the rear window was popped out of place by the dummies head. Now if you want to see a difference in build quality check out the video of the 79 K20. That entire truck folds like an accordion. The cab is literally crushed by the front end and bed. But that's why I choose Ford. Always have and always will.

Here's the K20 video. You can see the whole frame flex allowing the front of the bed to push in on the back of the cab.
