About a yr ago I went through the front brakes and replaced caliper brackets, slide pins, pads, and had rotors turned. I checked rear and all looked good.
Now a yr later, I'm getting a vibration. Only when I slightly apply brake pedal. The harder I push, the more it goes away.
I'm thinking rear rotors r warped. Does this sound right??

That a new one for me. Usually warped rotors vibrate no matter the braking pressure. Especially when hot.
Why do you think it's the rear brakes?
Sorry can't be more help, I just wonder if that vibration is coming from somewhere else. If not the brakes, possibly wheel bearing, u-joint, driveshaft?
Did you stay OE? If yes, then the same problem is recurring. It may be the rear rotors/pads, but in any event it is happening.
I have "cured" two Excursions of this problem by using Cryo'ed Powerslot Rotors and Hawk LTS pads. I did the 2005 almost 18 months / 25000 miles ago and have had no problems since.
I am having the same issue, 2000 X 130,000mi. It has been with me for awhile now. I had the brakes done and it didn't help, the vibration remained and, like you, when I first apply brake.
I have been to two "Ford" mechanics and neither have found a solution. I have already tried replacing ball joints as a "I think this might be the problem" solution but it didn't fix the issue...they still wanted the money for the fix even though it didn't solve the problem.

Have you had any luck?
I haven't jumped on it yet. Plan in Monday. I have already had ball joints done about 7months ago and everything else up front was tight. I'm gonna start with the rear brakes and then front rotors again. We will see. I'll let u know.
There have been a lot of folks that have resolved the "brake warpage" issue. You want to search clear back to 2005.
Tire Rack sells everything you need. Cryo Powerslot rotors and Hawk LTS pads. Shade tree job, possible to complete in a Saturday morning. Be sure to obey the bed-in procedures.
Solved my problem with the Cryo Powerslot Rotors and Hawk LTS pads. I also put in new slides since two of mine were frozen and wearing. The 2 wheel drive EX is a hub and rotor front assembly. So you will be replacing the wheel bearings too in case that is your problem.
I have read a lot of posts about "warped" rotors on here...It is more uncommon to read about a rear rotor being "warped".
Typically our rotors haven't "warped" and what has happened is pad material is shedding and being collected on the rotor surface causing a "rough" rotor face and feeling like a warped rotor.
Although you are right...when a front rotor has this feature...you typically feel it in the steering wheel with a small shake of the wheel.
What type of pads did you use?
Did you bed them in?
You could also have a caliper or slide pin that is sticking now and harder pressure is freeing it up...I would venture a guess that way over a rear rotor (personally).
You could do a couple of things.
1) Pull the front calipers again and check the calipers and slide pins to make sure a pin isn't stuck/sticking now
2) While you have the calipers pulled...take some emery paper and go over the rotor surface to clean it of any "build up" areas
If neither of those do it...check the rears for a stuck pin or caliper too would be my thoughts.
Well took rotors in to have them turned and found out one was beyond repair. Turning wouldnt even help. So I replaced with a decent set from advanced til I can save for some power slots. Did a test ride around the block and all is good. I will do a proper bedding tomorrow when I have more time. So my issue was the front rotors. If I remember right, my problem started when I had a set of tires put on. So maybe the tire place overtightened them. Idk
I doubt if overtightening the lugs will affect them in fact it won't, all is does is stretch the studs closer to the breaking point. Mine does the same thing, it shakes a tiny bit until you apply more pressure. You won't need fancy rotors unless you tow or live in the mountains and do a lot of heavy braking. Next time you have tire work done ask them what they torque them to or if they do at all, and watch to made sure they do .....should be 150-155 lbs.
