Pull my rig this weekend, been doing it every weekend since i got the truck ni April, as usual, checked fluids before leaving
on the way to the track, coolant temp moved...alot, never got to the red, but got close, could hear the fan kick on (never heard it that loud before) temps go back down. made it no problem
Coming back, temps steady, lost power, acceleration, everything...but no engine light. Stopped at a Autozone, got a B1145, B1234, P0088 (only one that mattered) its the HPFP
we dropped the trailer, drove for awhile unhooked and ran perfect until same problem repeated itself this time with a nice check engine light.
The vid shows the rpm and turbo with consistent pedal on a flat road, no wind
they were changed 2 weeks ago. not by ford, but by a lube place locally. do i need the invoice with me?
Is there much run around with ford on this one? Im taking it in as soon as im out of work, around 4...just wanting to be prepared
just spoke to the lube place, they used Service pro.
Called the dealer and asked if other brands void the warranty, he said no. As long as its a certified mechanic doing it.
Maybe Ive got one of the "good" dealerships??
this lube shop is ASE cert.
and when i called, it wasnt in connection with my service claim, i just asked a basic question. So hopefully everything checks out.
But by watching the vid, does it seem like there may be anything else going on with the motor? with rpms surging and turbo psi going down at the same time?
Most of what i read with the HPFP is it just losing power and limping. Mine would literally take off then almost shut down completely
UPDATE!
HPFP out, getting replaced. Didnt bother going through ford, said they have enough problems with them to know whats going on.
Found a coolant leak, nothing big, but some residue on the tank. Said the tank was cracked. Replacing for free!
TSTAT stuck on previous owner, dealer said the crack could have happened then.
last but not least, said my wipers were streaking...however they wouldnt replace those for free...... 2 out of 3 aint bad HAHA
ford dealer working on it, what i meant by them not going through ford was them not having to try and get the FP warrantied. Said they used to go and check them our for debris, bad fuel, what not, now (maybe just in the Houston area) they just replace them.
I have the original 100k, but the TSTAT was stuck @ 67k on previous owner. They replaced TSTAT then, no other fix. This guy is saying it "could" have damaged the radiator back then, and either now cracked, or cracked all along, which the later isnt the case, ive checked coolant in the 4 months ive had this truck.
