HG Information

Had a mechanic looked at another possible purchase of an '06 SD F250 6.0L last week. Only 29,000 miles and the head gasket(s) are gone. The Edge tuner seems to have pushed it to far. My mechanic gave me some interesting information. Apparently International put the 6.0L in many trucks and it has been extremely reliable - very very few failures of any kind. He also told me that when Ford specified the engine, they asked to have it tuned up to 325 HP versus the International spec of 250 HP. He also said the head bolt torque specs have changed from 65ft# on the lower bolts to 85ft# on all the bolts. This plus 1 1/2 extra turns. His final comment was "DON'T tune a stock engine - it will take out the gaskets."<O</O

He gave you good advise. I can tell you that even stock, you can have problems. Dont ask me how I know. I am trying to locate studs as we speak.
