Ordered new 2011 Ranger

After much searching for both new and used, I ordered a new 2011 last Thursday.
I ordered a 4x2 4 door Supercab with the 4.0V6 5speed man. trans., Toreadoor Red (RedFire discontinued due to pigmant shortage), Al.Wheels, payload package 2, Cruise control, Keyless entry pad on drivers door, privacy glass and slider rear window. Rebates are over 5k if you qualify for all of them, I will get $4750.

Dealer told me the window to order and configurations are narrow, so I jumped in.

I hope to be able to arrange a tour of plant when mine is built and see it on the line.

I am keeping my 99 for my son and this will be Ranger #4 for me, sad to see them stop making them.

I really wanted the 2.3L four, but could not get it with the 4 door cab that my wife wanted.

I am looking forward to many faithfull years of service like the past 3 I have owned and hope the 4.0V6 is as sturdy as the old four's that i have and had.

Lucky. I've been wanting to buy a new ranger forever but I can't get financed. My last 2 have been the best trucks I've ever owned. Can't say the same for my super clean '90 model POS.

Congrads. I find it interesting that they are still assembling Rangers usually the lines are down about July 1 for new model year mods. But I suppose since there is not going to be a 2012 they are just using up parts on hand. and they don't have to call them 2012's until Jan 1 2012.

I was told they have inventory until December and that plant will shut down before 1st of year.

I hope to get a tour of plant, and if possible see my truck go down the line.

Congrats on the new Ranger.

markfish -- There are no 2012 Rangers (or so a Dealer told me). The Last Ranger will roll off the line some time in Dec 2011 (as 99f150 said). They may call the later one's 2012's but they are exactly the same as the 2011's.

Ford threw in the towel and said "Tacoma you win"....

It is sad news... But it was not a blind drop. Ford has been saying since 2008 they were going to drop the Ranger but never backed there words until now.

Thanks every one. According to the order sheet from Dealer it is ajob 2 order, what ever that means. I wanted Limited slip but the build price did not show as available any more and the Redfire color was replaced with Toredor Red.

I love the Ranger trucks. They just fit me well and at over 10K less than a F150 (that is a pain to get in and out of due to height) I can buy some gas for the 4.0V6.
Should have plenty of power for my towing needs, as my 99 with the four has been fine.

I will update as I get info from Ford as to when it will be built.

Unfortunately, electronic traction control has replaced the limited-slip option. They're probably incompatible.

The early 2011 brochure I have lists the Advanced Trac with Roll stability control as standard with the limited slip a option on the 4.0V6.
I am guessing they ran out or just dropped the option to simplify the production.

I called Ford Customer relations today to set up a tour of the plant. The lady told me Ford does not offer tours.
She did give me the VIN# though, and said the build date was not shown.

I also expressed my concern over Ford letting the Ranger die and she directed me to corporate.ford.com to voice my concerns and opinions.

I think you will love your new Ranger, I factory ordered my 2010 Ranger in Nov. 2009, it arrived mid Jan. 2010, and I`m still in "honeymoon" mode. Mines a Vista Blue 2wd 4 cyl 5 speed. In my 2009 sales brochure, a limited slip diff was an option, but for 2010, it was not listed, even on a FX4. However it seems that the 2011 shows limited slip is available again. 2010 was the first year for 4 wheel disc brakes, stability and traction control, but I don`t understand why any of that should make a limited slip non compatable, as all of that saftey equipment plus limited slip is on the Mustangs.
Count me as another who thinks that Ford is making a big mistake in dropping the Ranger. My Ranger is perfect for my downtown rush hour commute to work, it gets good gas mileage, is easy to park, and is great for hauling engines around, or trips to Home Depot. For heavy stuff I have my old F350, but I certainly don`t want to be trying to parellel park that downtown!

Thanks, can you shut the traction contro off?
Without the limited slip I hope the traction control doesn't give me fits in the winter..
My son is just as excited to get my 99 as I am for the new 2011.
