Yes, there is a button on the dashboard to turn the traction control off. As for winter driving, we don`t get that much snow around Vancouver BC, I have 4 extra rims with snow tires and didn`t have any problem last winter. Like I said, though, we don`t get much snow, plus I live on a main road, and my commute is also on main roads. Not sure how good it would do in deep snow, or on steep hills.
I downloaded the owners manual and see the button to turn off the trac. control. I also notice oil change at 7500 without mention of normal or severe service.
I also purchased a new 2011 Ranger today. Pick it up on Wednesday.
What cab, model, engine etc did you get? Hope you are liking it.
Dealer called, mine came in last night. They are going to install the keyless entry pad and do pre delivery inspection today. I plan on picking it up this weekend.
Picked up the Ranger today. Not sure what is going on but it had 60 miles on it!!!
Anyways it is sweet, I should have ordered two, they added another 2K in rebates!!
I will try to get pictures soon.
Also I ordered the payload package2 and the ride is smooth, so that was $75 well spent.
Been driving around Minneapolis since Saturday to put some breakin miles on it before the 230 milw trip home at steady speeds.
Either thease 4.0V6's are really tight when new or it is a dog compared to the 2.3L DOCH Duratech four's I have driven (including the one in my 2005 Escape).
I am at 200 miles as of this morning and hope to get 50-75 more in the city before I leave today.
I will say though the 4.0V6 is smooth and silient.
The 4.0 L engine isn't made for racing, but it's no dog. Your engine is most probably just tight. In my experience, it takes about 10-15,000 miles to break in.
The best I have got with my '07 4.0 is 21 all highway. I typically get around 18-19. The 4.10 gears and Line-X might help bring down my MPG's.
Mine with 2 wheel drive and the 3.55 rear gear is still a little low for the torque curve. I think it could pull 3.08 easy, but this will work good for my camper.
I just bought a 2011 ranger today . I think that I got a great price on a 2x4 extended cab sport with the 4.0l auto has limited slip option tilt ,cruise and air. I have never owned a ranger .

I am loving mine, and hope I don't regret not getting the limited slip.
Second full tank and again 24.4mpg. has me
I would like to post some pictures but can't get them to display from my MSN skyDrive?

I bought a 2011 Ranger a few weeks ago - XLT supercab, 4X4, 3.73 limited slip rear. It currently has 400 miles on it. I too am surprised how doggy the 4.0 is - especially at lower RPMs. It's actually less responsive than my 1998 E250 extended van (5.4, open 3.73 rear). I'm hoping it will loosen up a bit after I put some more miles on it. Or, maybe I'm just spoiled by the 3.5 Ecoboost in my '11 Taurus SHO.
I previously had a 2005 Tacoma 4X4 double cab TRD Sport and it was much more powerful than the Ranger. Given that the Taco only had 40hp more, I thought most of the hp difference would be offset by the Tacoma's additional wieght. I knew the Ranger would feel slower, but I'm shocked how strained the 4.0 in the Ranger feels.
I am up to 700 miles, I can feel it starting to loosen up compared to when I picked it up. I have been told it can take up 10K miles to breakin thease 4.0V6's
Update. I am up to 1800 miles and I can feel it loosening up some. Cooler temps have dropped the MPG some, but still getting better than EPA on window sticker.
I also bought a Truxedo Deuce tonaeu cover that folds open from front or rolls up from back.
