Trailer Brake controller problem
My cousin has a 06 f-250 with the 6.0 and he has the stock trailer controller.
He is not getting any lights or breaks on the trailer and we know its not the trailers because every one we have works on our V10 f-250. We tested it with a voltage tester by putting the ground clip on the ground on the plug and touching the prod to all of the prongs on the plug. The light flashed on the signal lights it stayed solid on the park lights and when the brakes were turned on the tester lit up. What is the problem??????????

Can't tell you which side from here but it appears that your trailer is losing it's ground. Double check the ground connections on both sides, ie: the plug and receptacle. A weak ground can read with a meter and lose continuity under load.

Is this with the trailer hooking up on the hitch, or NOT resting on the truck's hitch? If NOT on the hitch, see the post above. If it is on the truck's hitch, it may STILL be the ground between the truck and trailer. It may also be a very dirty or broken wire inside the bundle of wires that connect to the trucks connector.
As far as brakes go, my '05 will NOT supply brakes to the trailer untill you are going fast enough so that the auto door locks lock. It was one of Fords more stupid ideas......

Since the trailer works with other trucks and you have a light at your tester on this truck, I would think you have a poor connection between truck and trailer, although I certainly agree with preceding comments regarding other possibilities. Poor connections are the overwhelming first choice when it comes to problems towing. I would suggest that a test light is of limited value in troubleshooting this type of problem as it does not provide you with enough information.

Check fuse #9 in under hood power distribution box. It's for bright filiment power (turn and brake) in 7 way plug only. If it's ok, check continuity between truck and trailer as others suggested.
Important to know 7 way plug is not just tagged onto tailight wiring at the back of the truck. It has it's own fuses and relays.
