New Owner

Greetings!
After being a GM guy for a few decades I ended up buying a 2002 Excursion Limited with a 7.3 Powerstroke under about the worst possible circumstances. I must say I am impressed with this truck. I spent years and thousands of dollars modifying a Suburban with a 6.5 trying to make it into what I have now learned is a stock Excursion.

So, having seen the light I have a couple of questions about my new toy.
First, I believe it may have a mild lift on it. Can anyone tell me the stock ride height and where Ford measures it?

Second, my truck is 4wd but does not have a transfer case skid plate. If I wanted to grab one from a junk yard are there other models that used the same plate?

Last, another skid plate question. The online catalogs only list a plate for the transfer case. Do they not make one for the fuel tank?

Thanks!

Your fuel tank has a skid plate....or should have unless someone removed it

Howdy Jeff!

Stock height is 80.4 inches, not sure where they measure from, but this is what I remember from the brochures and confirmed on wikipedia.

I believe the F250/350 has a skid plate on the transfer case asnd shouldn't be a problem if you were able to get one at a junk yard.

If you don't mind my asking, where in Texas are you?

Howdy!
It looks like we are practically neighbors! I am in the Katy area just off the Westpark Tollway and 99.

IMO, and I do a fair amount of off roading, your running boards will high center before the transfer case. In addition, the cross member ahead of the tcase is an inch closer to obstacles and the 'truck nutz balancer' is another 2 inches lower than the cross member. In other words, lots to hit before you nick the tcase.

Sean you do more 4 wheeling in your Ex than 98% of the Ex owners on here......so if you haven't torn off it's "nutz" yet the Tcase is pretty safe IMHO !
That's very funny by the way !!
