i have a set of headers from a buddies mustang. theyre short tubes and i just was wondering if the would line up with my stock exhaust on my 92 f150 302
I have a set of mustang shortys on my truck. (Because the lame brain at summit didn't know the difference between a truck and mustang was. And because the numb skull at the muffler shop didn't think to ask if when he realized that they just weren't going to bolt up)
The difference between the mustang and the truck is not where they header ends but what size of pipe is there. On the mustang the exhaust flange is bigger. A good muffler shop can cut off your old flanges and weld up some mustang sized ones within an hour if you already have the shortys installed and you TOW the truck there. (Most shops will not work on hot pipe. Call and ask)
The angle of the flange is also different. I run lightning shorties and their flange is much bigger than stock y will bolt up. I welded up a custom 2.5 mandrel y and i am pleased with the performance.
so its best to go with long tubes for 302? or i was thinking of installing shortys and then taking to a guy that will do my full exhaust from the headers for real cheap but he does good work
