Yes, they extend outwards. I can't imagine towing anything with these trucks without the towing mirrors - no matter which year of mirrors. Just too many places for little cars, motorcycles etc to hide in the blind spots.

They bolt right on after you grind the lil plastic Pc of the back side. Run the wires for the heat/turn/and parking and your done. Iv got the 2010s on my 02 and you can see very good. I got mine from (Kool-vue Part # FD129EL-S and FD129ER-S )about 260.0 a side if im corect..
