I am almost done my 65 F100 and was getting ready to put on my new TWIN I BEAM emblems and wasn't sure how the fasteners go. I won the set last year on Ebay and didn't want to screw them up by trying to install them wrong way. I hope the clips dont go on from behind...
I had to just "lay" them on to check 'em out.
Any old Ford body guys out there?
Thanks, Doug
The barrel nuts get pushed into the holes. Then the emblem gets pushed into them. The nuts should not go all the way through.
One question, Are you putting the trim pieces back on, the ones that go along the side of your truck? Nice looking truck!
I agree, what a great looking truck, really like it!!!! . Can't believe the 65 emblems are in such good condition, look new, would be interested if they were rechromed, considering doing same to my spare set.
Your truck looks fantastic! I too wonder if you're going to get the trim back on the sides...didn't
notice any drill holes...that would look amazing. I'm considering the same paint job down the road...
Really like the seat too.
I would assume the trim is going back on, otherwise the blue paint on the hood looks strange. Notice the Ford letters are missing from the header panel also. Not sure if this is actually a custom cab or not, it has the anodized grille but no trim on the front windshield. Hope he doesn't plan on adding that later as it will be a bear to install.
jhooch, I don't think the chrome is going on since it is not a Custom Cab. Check around the windows - no chrome trim. You are right, that is the correct paint on the hood for a CC, but, yeah, without the chrome trim it does look strange.
Calling me "MopDusterMan" is way outta line buddy...I know that I may sound
like I'm taking it too seriously....but in High School, I shared a locker with a mop! (that's Dangerfield)
I think I'm going to let the air outta the tires on Miss Daisy.
Hey guys, youre right, its not a custom cab. It was a bare bones 240/6 column shift.
The emblems are NOS, in the box as you can see in the picture.
I'm pretty good with an airbrush, so for now I will paint a silver/dark silver stripe that copys the original CC trim.
The grill letters have been on backorder for about 6 months.
The guy from Carpenter Ford told me the chroming shop had a roof collapse, with all of thier emblems inside.
I just installed 3-point seat belts, you can see the upper part in the interior pics.
The seat belt color was a really close match.
The grill was originally steel painted white. I painted it with Eastwoods "Liquid Crome". I figured I would give it a try.
It's hard to tell its not aluminum, even up close. ( the main ingredient is aluminum powder)
The running gear is all complete, the 300-6 runs strong.
Thanks for the comments, like I said, it's not quite finished, but I'm real close.
That's a shiny new looking '65 including the fender emblems! I've got four different sets of fender emblems. One is exactly like yours but after 45 years the twin-I-beam letters are pretty hard to see so I'm not going to use those for a while. I really like the three point seat belts. I don't know if the Ford letters and the header panel are a problem, but I've got a spare one if needed. I was able to find a used chrome front bumper for mine to match the aluminum grill. Your truck is looking great.
