After a somewhat long bout of lurking on the forum here I finally bit the bullet. My wife and I just went to look at this X, about an hour and a half away. I liked it, she really liked it. Long story short we are now the owners of one of the kings of the suv's. I'd like to thank you guys for all the info (crack) that made me want to become a member of the empty wallet club (long list of goodies).
So here she is, 2001~7.3~6" lift (not sure what kind just yet)~35" bfg at~previous owner put a superchip in it and left it for me, I want to replace it with the dp but that is on my long list of to do's or want to do's. I'm sure that I'm missing something but it's been a long day and I'm tired... I just wanted to post my first pic. I'm sure that I will have lot's of questions for you guys, this is my first truck with no spark plugs.
Lol. I was also looking at that excursion. Congrats on the buy. I take it you bought it from Eloy. I'm still on watch waiting for the right one to show up.
I'm sure you've heard a lot of tips, but unless you use them, I'm a full endorser of removing the roof rack cross members...I found a TON of dust and gunk under them and it took a LOT of work to clean the clearcoat there...some even say it can rub through the paint.

This is the only one I have at the moment. Does anybody know what that piece under the bumper is and can it be removed?
I think it's called an 'air dam' or 'valance'...from what I understand it is all asthetic on the Excursion (some cars use them to route air up into the radiator, but on mine at least there is a rubber panel that blocks the air from moving anywhere).
The guys with lifted rigs would know for sure though...mine is still stock.
