Well
After finally getting around to installing the correct steering wheel I figured it was time to hook up the horns. I bought the horn wire and fished it thru the steering column (the original was long gone). So at the bottom of the steering box I have about 26 inches left. Is there supposed to be a wire off of the harness that this goes to, it is not long enough to make it over to the horn relay. Also where or how is this routed? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
I don’t do windows or OEM stock restores (street rods) so not sure what would be in the original wiring harness but yes, that wire has to go to the ground terminal on the relay either via the original wiring harness or a new extension wire if necessary (or could you legally move the relay). You know that the horn column wire grounds the relay to complete the circuit and blow the horn, right?
There should be a wire in the bundle that goes down to the dimmer switch, from the main bundle penetration into the cab, but that wire continues in the bundle that runs across the upper part of the cowl over to the horn relay. If you don't see it hanging down there near the steering box, it may be easier to run a new one, at least to get it working.
